Which airport should we fly into?

Guests can choose between two airports: 1. Lisbon - Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) Although our wedding is in the town of Albufeira, within the region of Algarve, we encourage our family and friends to explore the beautiful city of Lisbon if feasible. Should you choose to do so, there is the option to take a high speed train from Lisbon Entrecampos Station or Oriente to Albufeira Ferreiras Station. It's about two and a half - three hours and can be purchased for about 30 USD by visiting www.omio.com. We recommend purchasing train tickets about a month before. 2. Faro - Faro International Airport (FAO) is approximately a 40 minute drive to the town of Albufeira. Should you choose to fly directly there, please be aware that there are no direct flights available from the United States, so you will need to book a flight with a layover.

Which airline do you recommend?

TAP Air Portugal is Portugal's leading airline. TAP flies to both Lisbon and Faro (with a layover). If you’re thinking about a layover in Faro, Aer Lingus and British Airways are also great options to consider.

How long is the flight?

From New York, it is about a seven hour flight to get to Portugal (not too bad I hope). Good news is that almost all flights are overnight!

Should I rent a car?

Short answer is it's totally up to you. Ubers are very easy to acquire and fairly priced. Other than traveling to/from Lisbon, we don't recommend taking the train to get around places, as you probably need to take an Uber to/from the station anyway. If you plan on taking day trips to other cities in the Algarve (i.e. Lagos), an Uber will suffice. There are also a bunch of group tours you can easily find in the area. Everything else (beach, food, pharmacy, etc.) is walking distance. If you do decide to rent a car, please keep in mind that it's Portugal's peak season and parking may be difficult. Our venue does have a parking area so that won't be an issue at our wedding.

Where should we stay?

There are countless of beautiful places to stay within the region of Algarve. Please refer to the Hotel section for more information.
